Schae Mays' Senior Dance Images

A red sequins costume PLUS a stunning sunset calls for a warm, fuzzy blanket while sitting by a fire scrolling through these incredible pictures!

I can’t believe that one of my first clients when starting my photography business is going into her senior year! I think I’ve been photographing the Mays family since I was 16 years old and it has been a privilege to witness Schae grow up into the beautiful woman that she is. It has also been a privilege to have the Mays family come along with me on my photography journey and entrust me with their memories since day one. Their support for my photography business has been an important part of my journey!

Now that I’ve given you a brief introduction to my story with the Mays family, let’s dig into the details of this photo shoot!

Schae and I wanted to do something very different for her senior dance shoot. We were seeking to find a location that would convey Schae’s passion for dance and complement her beautiful costume. GUESS WHERE WE WENT?  We went to a broken down location! It’s ironic, yet amazing how broken places can be so beautiful!

(Fun fact: This is actually where Joey and I had our engagement pictures shot at!)

During Schae’s dance photoshoot, the sunset gave us an extraordinary show! We were able to capture warm color tones that paired pleasingly with her red sequins costume. The tones of this photo shoot gave me a Fall vibe. Is it just me or does this shoot make you want to grab your Fall boots and a pumpkin spice beverage?

I’m so excited to shoot her senior pictures, we are really going to go all out for this one! I hope you enjoy the images, she is such a great dancer and her photos were remarkable!

Drop some comments down below!

Did you guys love the warm color tones? If you want tips on how to shoot with sunsets and/or dancers in your photoshoots, go ahead and ask away! I'll be looking forward to reading your comments and answering any questions.

Q&A TIME!

The first question is by @Kalanialexia:

“When is the best time to do a shoot?”

At Golden hour. That is an hour before the sunsets! The night is soft and has a beautiful color at that time of day! Also, your clients won't be sweating!

The next question is by @_casskat:

“What lens do you use?”

Hi there! I shoot with:

Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art

Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art

Canon 85mm 1.4 or 1.2 L
