Best Business Tips for Photographers: An Ultimate Guide: Part 1

We can’t underestimate the importance of staying organized as creatives. One principle I always hold on to is that we’re more productive and efficient when we stay on top of schedules, workflows, finances, and taxes.

That’s why I’d like to share these tips from my own personal experiences to help photographers achieve a more productive and efficient work-life. I love seeing photographers excelling! 💖💖

  1. Get Organized with Shot List

Having an organized schedule and delivering products at the right time is crucial to keeping your customers happy. After years of shooting, my schedules got crazy and maintaining a systematic way of doing things got pretty challenging. That’s why I created this simple, but effective worksheet called “Shot List!”

I designed this shot list in a clean, printable PDF format you can print as many times as you want! The PDF is also editable in Adobe Reader, so if you’re a digital person you’re all set to go!

Aside from saving myself from disruptions while using digital planners, I realized that writing by hand helps me slow down and approach planning intentionally. Instead of jumping from app to app, I have it all in one place while taking a break from devices and enjoying the tangible material.

2. Invest in Long-Lasting Tools

One of the biggest investments I’ve made this year was my new iMac Desktop! As a photographer, buying a computer is an investment in productivity, using this provides a better value to customers. Needless to say, it’s best to always research, brainstorm and be thoughtful in making financial decisions.

In the case of Macs, I believe it’s worth having because it puts my money into more productive use by giving the benefits of a faster processor, a bigger screen and a faster RAM.

Yes, it’s a large chunk of money, but one secret why I was able to invest in this long-lasting equipment is because my finances were well tracked and managed! I was able to set aside money, step-by-step until I reached my financial milestones!

3. Stay on Track with Finance Sheet

A helpful tool I used to track my finances was the finance sheet I created!

When starting a photography business, or any business in general, it can be hard to know how to file taxes, what to spend, how much money you're actually making, and what you can write off! 😲⁣ ⁣

Luckily, my mother owned her own business for years and set me up for success, so I want to help you do the same! 💕⁣.I’ve come up with this specially-crafted Finance Sheet for Photographers that I launched last week of January 2020!

I’m so excited to share this finance sheet with you, check out my next blog where I will explain this tool in detail!

Good bye for now until Next Mondays blog post at 11:00am!

XOXO
